Bridgette Tran is currently an undergraduate student at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts studying scenic design in the School of Design & Production. In 2021, she was awarded the Kenan Excellence Scholarship, the most prestigious scholarship offered by the school to new students. She expects to graduate in 2025.
Bridgette has a love for all aspects of scenic design- from the initial idea to model building, drafting (both by hand and digitally), scenic rendering, and beyond. Aside from her scene design studies, she also has a background in fine arts and dance. She takes special interest in production design, themed entertainment design, and puppetry as well as scenic design. Recently, she gained experience in puppet fabrication and the development of puppet shows through her work with Paperhand Puppet Intervention and Rabbit Foot Puppetry, where she assisted with the creation of the shows “The Meanwhile Clock” and “Watchfly,” respectively. This year, she dove into the world of costume design through her involvement of TheatreSquared’s production of “Cambodian Rock Band.”
Bridgette prioritizes inclusivity and diversity in her work and in everything she does. Much of her personal art is done in acrylic paint, but she enjoys working with whatever medium she can get her hands on. She enjoys experimenting with colors and textures, creating work that strikes a balance between whimsical and meaningful, and most importantly, telling a story through her art.
